The Power of Personalisation

When sending out your emails it is important to make that first impression count, a simple way to make sure you do that is by using personalisation. Personalisation is one of the best ways to grab your reader’s attention and it can be done as simply as inserting the personalisation field of a recipient’s name into your email. However you don't have to stop there, you could also include other personalisation tags such as the last item they bought or even their location.
By inserting personalisation tags such as the last item the recipient bought or their location it allows them to know the email is specifically targeted to them. As the products or information in the email is specifically targeted to them, they will find the email more relevant which should increase your open/click rate.
When inserting personalisation tags they would look like this:
Once received the personalisation tags will display the data like this:
Personalisation is there to help you make that essential connection between your email and the recipient reading it. We have made it incredibly easy for you to insert personalisation into your emails, but before you can insert the personalisation you will need to import the data you would like to use.
When importing your mailing list via an excel spreadsheet simply include any data you would like to be used as personalisation. Once the data is imported into the dataset there will be a connection from the mailing list (email address) to the dataset (email address) which will be used to carry the data stored into the emails for your personalisation.
Once the data is imported adding personalisation into your emails is easier than you might think; when you are in the editor click on “Personalisation” >> Subscriber Tags >> expand the dataset you imported the data into and then select the actual field you would like to insert, such as first name and click insert. It is as easy as that!
Add Personalisation To Your Subject Line
You can even add personalisation into your subject line by clicking on the blue and green icon next to the subject line textbox >> select copy to clipboard and then simply paste the copied text into the subject line.
Personalisation tags in the subject line will look like this:
<GM21830.1>FirstName</GM>, we have fantastic offers for you
When the email is received the subject line will look like this:
Jake, we have fantastic offers for you
By adding personalisation to your subject line you can immediately grab the recipient's attention which will help to persuade them to open your email fully.
